Friday Fill-Ins

  1. Hey! It’s Friday! Finally! This has been a rough week. And long (even though it was actually shorter by one day because of the holiday).
  2. In every story there is a kernel of truth.
  3. Eat more chocolate. You’ll thank yourself.
  4. The best thing is when there’s cheese in the middle.
  5. First thing to note: I haven’t done homework in weeks.
  6. Sometimes what I really need is a distraction.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to a massage and a facial! and pizza, tomorrow my plans include probably something to do with power tools and the garage and Sunday, I want to feel well-rested enough to go to Grand Old Days!

  1. I see London, I see France….
  2. You should always put Neosporin (or similar) on a cat scratch. Just think about where those paws have been.
  3. They begin way before the beginning. This is why I don’t like going to trainings on technical things. I don’t need to be taught how to use a mouse, scroll bar, and menu.
  4. It all began so many years earlier. Would that make a halfway decent first line of a novel, or is it much too… predictable?
  5. This I know: we will never truly rid our yard of dandelions, no matter how hard works at removing them. And he has been quite diligent.
  6. We have no idea what to eat for dinner. We were lazy and didn’t do grocery shopping this week, and, well, that kind of limits the choices to mac & cheese, and… out. This wouldn’t have happened if we both didn’t really dislike grocery shopping.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to rain (and the consequential inability to do yard work), tomorrow my plans include sleeping in (I’d rather not speculate past that) and Sunday, I want to dig up some day lilies and bequeath them to (and move some about the gardens)!

  1. I know not if I will be employed in July. If they don’t get the budget done, we will not be working. If we don’t get our appropriation, we will be greatly in the hole and layoffs will occur. It’s not really a fun time to be a government employee.
  2. I would like to replace most of my summer shoes without having to go shopping, if at all possible. Yeah, I didn’t think so. I’m having a summer shoe wardrobe “situation.”
  3. This weather has been great for getting sewing done. It’s been cloudy and wet or rainy for the last week or so. No yard work.
  4. Being too lazy to call and schedule a haircut is getting to be a problem.
  5. I’m really happy I have the ability to organize things. It seems to baffle some people, and then they’re all amazed when I “fix” things.
  6. I’d like to go on “vacation” this summer and see a waterfall, or something to that effect.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to pizza and watching open his birthday presents (he’s “nearly 30,” you know), tomorrow my plans include nothing (I have no plans for this weekend, though there’s been talk of mowing and fertilizing and overseeding our lawn) and Sunday, I want to forget that I ever heard the phrase “tuna salad pizza” (of the pasta salad variety, for clarification)!

  1. I love to sleep. It’s true. Not that anyone who has spent a prolonged amount of time with me has ever doubted that.
  2. ~We go together like a wink and a smile.~
  3. It’s how you play the game….
  4. If you got up early to watch the royal wedding, don’t tell me!
  5. Well, would you do xyz for me? Um, no. Letmegooglethatforyou.
  6. It’s about three months early for spring peepers. Here in Minnesota, that is. Though, to be fair, it is in the 60s today. But it was 40 and rainy for the past three days. And they’re still talking about snow in the forecast.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to pizza (all good weekends start with pizza), tomorrow my plans include my last Saturday class (and portfolio review) and Sunday, I want to revel in the joy of not having homework or class for four months!

Friday Fill-Ins

  1. Pardon me, but do you have any Grey Poupon?. We have two different types in our fridge right now. Can’t remember the last time we used either of them. 🙂
  2. I have not bought fabric in a whole month, even when it was a ridiculously good deal. And, I’ve used up… 8 yards this month (2 brown jersey slub, 2 stretch rayon burnout, 2 jersey stripes, 2 olive green jersey)!
  3. I was surprised to find that I really like the senior highers I’m observing right now. Well, I like the seniors, and the sophomores are huggable (especially because they are trying so hard not to be). I’ll refrain from commenting on the freshmen after yesterday’s… experience.
  4. Reading is one of my favorite forms of entertainment.
  5. Hi, my name is Kelly and I’m wearing clothes I made today.
  6. Hammocks turn every day into a summer afternoon.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to guacamole, tomorrow my plans include class, and washing & installing the window screens so we can air out the house and Sunday, I want to enjoy Easter dinner with friends and family!

Friday Fill-Ins

  1. In the near darkness a still small voice whispers.
  2. Spring is here until further notice.
  3. But this list of things to do is way too long, and completely unrealistic.
  4. Now is not the time to play in the stream. It’s flooding season, you know. Danger, Will Robinson!
  5. It’s always nice to be able to open the windows and air out the house after a long winter. And remove the plastic from the windows too.
  6. Not much beats a margarita and pleasant company.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to finishing our taxes (no, not really looking forward to it, but that’s what we’ve got planned), tomorrow my plans include class and raking the yard and Sunday, I want to enjoy making jewelry with friends (I’m excited to see their ideas)!

  1. Why does it totally cloud up when we actually remember to check out the night sky for Saturn’s appearance?
  2. Calling someone a ‘yahoo’ is equal to calling them a jerk. Just because it sounds prettier doesn’t mean it is, especially when I know that’s what you really meant.
  3. My favorite breakfast includes eggs and toast.
  4. Dragonsinger by Anne McCaffrey was the last book I read  on paper (not counting books for school).
  5. I am SO glad I figured out this whole ebooks from the library thing. Awesome.
  6. A clean house would make me feel better right now.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to [I have no idea! no plans, nothing exciting, nothing different from the usual], tomorrow my plans include sleeping in (class was canceled due to a scheduling conflict) and Sunday, I want to see grass re-appear in my lawn (such a tease, this weather)!

Friday Fill-Ins

  1. I love to go to Chili’s because I’m always there with a great friend, and we have good conversations and fantastic drinks (their queso is a fav too).
  2. When asking Prince Charming why he doesn’t like Chili’s, he might say it’s the quality!
  3. The last thing I had to eat was a handful of jellybeans.
  4. February is the month in which you start to believe that sunlight is no longer essential. Because it seems like you’ll never see it again, and it probably won’t kill you, but darn it if sunlight doesn’t make everything better.
  5. Please take a moment to use your turn signal before changing lanes. Thank you.
  6. Grit and determination have brought you this far.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to pizza!, tomorrow my plans include class and taking my sewing machine in for repair and Sunday, I want to be productive… somehow!

Friday Fill-Ins

  1. Ooooh, I could really use some hearty, empty-calorie carbs right now.
  2. I am so bored right now, I can’t stand it! I need winter to be over. I’m starting to feel despondent.
  3. How the heck did I end up with so many books on my “to read” list? Seriously. I will never make it through that list. If I ever do, then either I’ve been unemployed for decades or have lived way past 100.
  4. Marshall’s is one of my favorite places to visit. If you have never gone to Marshall’s with a girlfriend and played “Humor me,” you’re missing out. TJ Maxx works too. Or a similar store.
  5. I’m not a morning person, I’m not! This was never in doubt, actually, but I couldn’t really come up with anything else to say.
  6. Once you’ve put cheese on something, it has to be good.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to not studying math all weekend, tomorrow my plans include class (with a late start), cleaning my house, and installing the built-ins (maybe) and Sunday, I want to feel like I have a good grasp on my lesson plans!

Friday Fill-Ins

  1. New experiences and possibilities don’t often fill my day.
  2. An unexpected turn on a daily walk can take you almost anywhere. We’re still new to our city, so [when it’s warm enough] we go exploring in the neighborhoods around us when we have the time. By foot. There’s a house not too far from ours with a driveway filled with BMWs. At least 4. And another fancy car too. That’s the “rich” part of our city.
  3. I’m looking forward to class tomorrow. I want to know what my professor thinks about my syllabus. She gives great feedback, and on top of the awesomeness of the class, it really makes me want to go to class. Mental note: be this awesome when I am a teacher.
  4. It is a sad thing to never have imagined.
  5. Try to find something to be happy about every day. Some days it’s harder than others.
  6. My hair is what’s extraordinary about me. Let’s be honest – it’s unique. Not that there’s no one else out there with red, curly hair (though it is quite rare); in fact, I have a co-worker two cubicles away from me with red, curly hair. But mine’s still pretty unique. And unique = extraordinary.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to wearing my new dress & matching jewelry (all created by yours truly), tomorrow my plans include class and then studying for my MTLE* Basic Skills Test that I’m taking Monday and Sunday, I want to have a clean house (I’m starting to go a little nuts)!

via Friday Fill-Ins

*MTLE = the new Minnesota Praxis Series. The tests one has to take and pass in order to get licensed. There are two tests: Basic Skills (reading, writing, math), and a content-specific one. Results will be posted in 21 days, so… I’ll let you know mid-March how I did. I’m only concerned about the math part, and only because the standard is now sophomore year college-level, and the last time I took a math class was in 1996.

  1. Family can be defined in so many ways.
  2. Most days have their ups and downs.
  3. Trust that this legislative session is stressing me out.
  4. Mubarak leaving was for the best. I don’t usually get all political, but you’ve got to listen to your people sometimes and let go of your pride, man.
  5. Parents have a very hard job.
  6. What’s important is not always what was said.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to going out with and drinking a really big margarita , tomorrow my plans include class… and Sunday, I want to get lots of homework done (not exciting, but it could mean having more fun next week)!

Friday Fill-Ins

  1. Up was a great movie.
  2. I hope I don’t get the cold/sickness/whatever that’s going around. I don’t need that.
  3. Coats and scarves, mittens and boots: if you live in Minnesota and you don’t have these, you’re probably dead, or soon will be.
  4. Tonight I’m paying for a nice back rub. OK, if “nice” is the only way to describe it, I might want my money back.
  5. I’m thinking about lunch – I’m hungry.
  6. I do not want to be a sheep. We were talking about politics earlier….
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to pizza and a massage (sounds like a perfect Friday night to me), tomorrow my plans include class and work on the built-ins and Sunday, I want to wrap up the grey dress (I think that can be done – it’s just the facing, zipper, and hem and some embellishment)!

  1. Right now I need a backrub to work out the kinks in my neck from that mailing I just finished.
  2. Crystal Light Pink Lemonade is what’s in my glass Nalgene.
  3. A copy of this letter will be kept in our records.
  4. Ice cream is best with a spoon. But I’ll take it any way I can get it.
  5. The best movie I’ve seen lately is ?. I can’t remember the last movie I saw. I’m sure there was something recently, but obviously nothing memorable.
  6. The paint color of our family room is one that I like; it’s very hard to paint whole rooms with colors you love. Especially when the colors you love and the colors the person(s) you live with love are polar opposites.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to a wee bit of shopping, tomorrow my plans include going to class and Sunday, I want to sleep, and sleep, and then sleep some more!

  1. What in the world would you do with a truckload of cheese? Just curious.
  2. It would be awesome if everyone were well fed.
  3. Go ahead, make my day.
  4. We still haven’t sent out Christmas cards, or shipped gifts that won’t be delivered in person (because they haven’t been bought yet… a little slow on the game this year).
  5. I keep reveling in the genius that was the frozen shells we had earlier this week and am trying to figure out what other recipes I can do this with. Two weeks ago I made up stuffed shells, and made up two 8×8 pans. We cooked one that night, and the other one went in the freezer, which was then eaten this week. It was… fabulous, simply for the fact that it was a good meal but no extra work went into making the second batch up. So many recipes make up too much for just the two of us, and I’m wondering what I can divide up like this. I’m thinking tonight’s turkey pot roast (a crock pot dish) should have been divided in half, but it’s too late for that now. But I’m loving the ease of crock pot cooking, and having a freezer stocked with dishes would be nice too (as long as we eat them up before they get all freezer burnt).
  6. I might be eating the afore-mentioned Turkey Roast alone… or not. It depends on whether or not and go to see Tron tonight (or rather, when they go to see it).
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to working on projects I can’t yet tell you about, tomorrow my plans include finishing up the majority of the framing in the basement, and then go to ‘s birthday party, and Sunday, I want to revel in the joy that is a week off of work (and then go eat some delicious seafood)!

FYI, posting will probably be sparse next week, with my being on vacation and it being a holiday and all.

Bonus (help!):

  1. IDOAWCJLTOIUTK:
  2. CROAOFJFNAYN: Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose
