As you can see the light at the end of the tunnel, you feel relief. And then you realize that the time to get there will seem to just crawl by. Sigh.
I’ll be done with homework for the semester soon! Just one paper and one presentation (PowerPoint). Two class sessions. Oh, and that whole 60 hours of middle school classroom time. Details, details.
I love to buy lots of things. I do not, however, like buying shoes. Too much pressure, never what I’m looking for, and always the possibility of being very disappointed upon wearing them for a full day.
What did bring back from Colorado? That’s right, gift(s). He bought me what he thought was a chocolate rooster. It was actually a turkey, but we’re pretending it’s a rooster.
What’s up with commercials on TV and gender stereotyping? The mom is always the mean one, and the dad is always stupid. Our household does not like this one bit.
I like to put pretty / fancy things on my fingertips. Today I have blue suede nails with white stars, but I put a top coat on so the suede is shinier and doesn’t feel as nice as its natural finish. Still pretty.
And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to —I don’t even know— ( wants to spend 4 hours spray-polying the trim for the family room, but I was thinking more about spending those hours working on my paper… either way, it doesn’t sound like much to look forward to), tomorrow my plans include sleep (I am so tired today – haven’t really gotten over the wanting a daily nap thing yet, though I have technically gone without all week) and Sunday, I want to wear a sweater (that means switching out my summer and winter wardrobes, which I still haven’t done, and it’s getting harder and harder to get dressed for work)!
I am not ready for it to snow. Neither is our house. I mean, there are leaves to be raked, another house painting quote to get, some insect prevention we need to do… but we got the windows weatherproofed, so that’s something. No, , they’re still not clean. Does that make you twitchy? 🙂
And since we ‘re on the subject, there are plenty of other parts of my house that are not really clean. Just being honest.
[I’ve got nothing for this one] spirits?
Where ~the deer and the antelope roam…~. That’s going to be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. You’re welcome.
Soup – thick, hearty, totally unhealthy soup – is one of my favorite meals when it’s cold out.
And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forwardgoing to class (boo!), tomorrow my plans include writing a paper (there’s lots of this in the next 2 weeks – just assume I’m busy doing homework unless you hear differently) and Sunday, I want to accept that winter is coming and switch out my summer wardrobe for all those wool sweaters!
Oh, and as a quick update to yesterday’s post, I made a decision… not to make a decision (I suppose that was Option D). It’s totally valid.
Old me would sleep until noon on Saturdays; new me would get up before 10. Don’t judge. It’s an improvement.
Life is about taking responsibility.
So…in a way if everyone had that philosophy, our criminal justice system wouldn’t be overburdened.
I mentioned I’m on jury duty next week, right?
The big difference between your hair and my hair is that mine has its own zip code. Don’t be jealous.
Sunshine makes me happy.
And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to sleep – I’ve been tired all week, tomorrow my plans include taking a break from yard work to visit with (you are bringing me some acorn squash, right?) and Sunday, I want to not be embarrassed by my football team (this may require changing allegiances)!
It’s easy to understand why I’m cold. It’s 69* in here today, with a good breeze. Seriously. For the record, I’m on the 5th floor, and we don’t have any windows that open (even if we did, they’re a good 50 feet away from my cube). One of the ceiling vents, however, is quite close to my cube, and it’s pumping out cold air like it’s the middle of August. I had to throw a long-sleeved fleece on today, instead of my usual fleece vest. My space heater is broken, and I get teased for being too Grandma-y when I pull out my giant purple lap quilt. You could probably cool water with my fingers, they’re so cold.
~Clementine~ my darling. That’s now stuck in my head. Sorry if it’s in yours too now.
Once upon a time, I posted regularly on my blog. Don’t know where the week went. Nothing significant going on. Not super busy. Just… nothing interesting enough to talk about. Unless you wanted to hear about incidents that caused road rage, or I wanted to complain about work things, which I won’t do because that kind of thing could get a girl fired.
What part of a sewing project do I have the hardest time with? … the end. I seriously have two pair of pants hanging up, completely finished except for hemming. I’ve even done the pinning for the hemming. I just can’t bring myself to take them over to the sewing machine and finish them. Why? I’m not sure. They both look awesome and I could really use the extra pants in my work wardrobe. Maybe I’ll get on that this weekend. (The nearly finished projects in my closet is also getting out of hand. And I won’t even mention the ever-growing pile of prepped patterns and cut out fabric. It’s a sickness.)
What is, is. What will be, will be.
I like to do my homework sooner than later. Unfortunately, that means that sometimes in class it’s hard to remember what we’re supposed to be talking about, because I did the reading 5 or 6 days ago, instead of earlier that day like many of my classmates (slackers).
And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to pizza! sewing! shopping! (well, maybe I’ll save the shopping for Saturday), tomorrow my plans include getting an estimate on having our trees trimmed (at a time when I would normally be asleep, because it’s Saturday, but whatever) and Sunday, I want to not have to spend the whole day raking (alas, I fear this will not come true)!
How can I justify eating a lemon bar for lunch? Probably can’t.
Not much going on at the moment.
What was not exciting about today was the hour-long meeting in which nothing was accomplished.
And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to shopping (Simplicity patterns on sale at JoAnn this weekend), tomorrow my plans include attempting canning (preserving some hot peppers) for the first time and Sunday, I want to have a good time with friends at a new apple orchard!
*I couldn’t come up with answers to the original numbers 3, 4 and 6, so my fill-ins are much shorter this week.
I need a haircut, massage, and maybe a facial. I have no one to blame but myself. I’ve had it written on my “to do” list for many weeks now to schedule these things, and I have yet to take care of it.
It shouldn’t take so much to remind us lucky we were are.
A great deal of things should just be left unsaid. There are far too many people who like the sound of their own voice, or who think that the things they have to say are important, deep, mind-blowing, or poignant. Sadly, this is rarely true.
I want a Redhead in Bed [link removed] in a big tall glass. Not *now*, but, you know, sometime soon. Sounds yummy.
It was announced that there’s a new Kindle, and I’m actually kinda excited about it. I’m not really an early adopter (not according to me, that is), so that’s surprising to me.
Sign of a good meal? It calls for steak knives.
And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to nothing (no plans, not even what we’re going to have for dinner, so… who knows?), tomorrow my plans include wrapping up any yard work projects we have (winter might come sooner than expected, you know) and Sunday, I want to not have to brave freezing rain when picking up from the Twin Cities 10 mile (not that rain is expected, and the temperature looks to be nice – there’ve been a couple of years when it has just been miserable, though)!

…by the way, this is my 100th Friday Fill-In! That might be the most I’ve ever used a meme!
Why do I have such a hard time remembering to schedule appointments for myself? I’m talking massages, haircuts… things that would be enjoyable. It makes no sense.
The hardest thing about painting one’s nails is getting the nail polish to stay. You know, longer than 24 hours. Don’t you just hate it when it chips in less than that?
By far the most important thing I’m going to do today is put air in my tires. It’s that kind of day. Unlike yesterday, when there was lots going on, today is a dearth of activity.
I usually don’t spend too much time thinking about being American. It’s kind of just background noise.
But when I read about people in other places who are oppressed, I’m quite thankful for our freedoms.
~I haven’t been there for the longest time.~ Oh, oh, oh, oh, for the longest ti-i-i-ime.~
And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to going to a Twins game at their new stadium, tomorrow my plans include homework and Sunday, I want to sew something (actual sewing, not cutting fabric, not pinning, not ironing, but honest to goodness sewing)!
Do they have ice cream in heaven? They must. Seems wrong if they didn’t.
The mosquitoes were quite happy we were working outside last night; it was as if we hadn’t put any bug spray on at all (though we had). Perhaps 7 pm is not the best time to do yard work, but it’s the only time we’ve got.
That was aan unpleasant task – it seems that much of our yard is composed of heavily compacted clay.
Later that evening, our couch seemed so comfortable.
As I said, it was rough going, and I didn’t even do that much work. My body isn’t so much built for digging, or connecting hose, both of which require lots of upper body strength. I did great with removing the rocks (stupid rocks) above the black plastic (stupid black plastic) so that it would be easier to dig with the trenching shovel later. That was a 5 minute task. I’m also good with remembering what goes where and little details that are important, but not very labor intensive. This project is not exactly playing to my strengths.
I’m always looking for a book that has some new twist. But most of them are the same-old, same old, especially since I’ve been reading the same genre for months on end. I think it’s time to switch it up.
And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to pizza (this will get me through the pain of having to go to class in the middle-of-nowhere-St-Paul from 7:30-9 tonight, which is truly a crime against humanity), tomorrow my plans include homework (welcome to the new semester… here’s 500 pages of reading) and Sunday, I want to be able to state with some amount of finality that the irrigation project is completed for the year!

On a side note, I found this cute “updo” the other day through Pinterest and it is with mixed emotions that I report my hair is too long to do this hairstyle. Bummer, because it’s cute, but also awesome, because my hair is long. (And to think a “short 10 years ago” it was barely 1″ long….)
As another side note (Liz, this is for you), I found a new variation to browned butter sauce that was delicious! The internet led me to a white wine variation. Fabulous. Make it like regular browned butter sauce, but add in the wine after the butter is all browned. It even works if the wine you have at your disposal isn’t worth drinking (I found a bottle in our fridge left over from the weekend, and it was a Chardonnay, which I don’t care for, and hadn’t been sealed well – totally not drinkable, but excellent over pasta).
When I was 10 years old I thought it was a funny idea to try to chew an entire pack (all 5 squares) of grape-flavored Hubba Bubba (or was it Bubbalicious?). I really did think it was hilarious. In hind-sight, the idea seems a bit gross.
Artichokesis are my favorite vegetable because they are really just a vehicle for consuming garlic-butter.
My dream pet is a bunny that doesn’t smell, so he can live indoors with us and I don’t have to deal with having a bunny outside in January in Minnesota.
Love surrounds you. You just have to know where to look, and to remember to look there.
If I could live anywhere in the world I’d live in -between the mountains and the ocean, and everyone I love lives within a 20-minute drive radius.
Sun, please don’t keep on shinin’ on me. OK, well, the sun hasn’t exactly been out, as it’s been cloudy and rainy, but it has been hotter than it should be, and overly muggy. It’s making us all wish that fall weather would appear, but I’m not ready to get rid of summer just yet. I’d just like slightly more pleasant summer weather. The sun is OK, as long as the humidity is closer to half what the temperature is.
And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to trying out a new ice cream recipe (no doubts – how can you go wrong with 6 egg yolks, 2 cups heavy cream, and 2 cups half and half, not to mention all of the chocolate?), tomorrow my plans include cleaning the house and then seeing and and and all of her boys and Sunday, I want to enjoy the one morning I get to sleep in on this long holiday weekend (Labor Day’s plans include a trip to the State Fair and then a family dinner)!
How in the world did I get to be over 30?I swear I’m not a day over 26.
I’m tired of the scene in front of me. I’m ready for the weekend.
Life’s about to get really busy. Or, rather, I’ll be spending a lot of my time sitting on the couch reading. This will officially be the semester of reading.
It’s been a really long time since I’ve had a picnic lunch. Even though we own a picnic basket that’s outfitted for a wine bottle and everything. Seems like it would be a lot of work, given that I don’t really like sandwiches or potato salad. Not that those are required for a picnic, but they certainly are the easiest picnic items to bring, other than fresh fruit or a loaf of bread.
That was where we met those people for that thing with the stuff….. Don’t you remember?
Where we live now is what I think of as “our place.”
And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to pizza, tomorrow my plans include helping family move into their new home and Sunday, I want to finish the last 3 seams on ‘s quilt top!
No waste half square triangles areis easy to make.
I like to be productive with my time.
What sky diving feels like is something I will never know!
Something I’m very much excited about is the good weather we’ve been having – maybe we should get caught up on yard work this weekend.
For the amount of time I spend using my iPhone, the money spent was well worth it.
And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to picking up our new-to-us dining table (Craigslist 0 hopefully the photo is a decent representation and we can take it home with us), tomorrow my plans include mailing off my DQS #11 item and picking up bread at the farmer’s market and Sunday, I want to spend some time getting ready for the new school year (perhaps a whole 10 minutes – the fun organizational part doesn’t come until after the syllabus is handed out)!
The only question is will it ever be more than 72* in the office again?I’m always cold. Very, very cold.
It would be really awesome if you could lose 10 pounds in one day. Because I can totally diet for one day.
Three things on my desk: salad for lunch, ponytail potted plant, cloth napkin (for the aforementioned salad).
Schedule an appointment with my advisor is the one thing I HAVE to do today! Also, it’s the thing that I am most likely to forget to do.
I love playing with fabric. Was that answer too obvious?
Sex Panther cologne overwhelms the senses. It’s from Anchorman. You’re missing out on some good laughs if you haven’t seen it.
And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to pizza, tomorrow my plans include cleaning the house (it’s been way too long) and Sunday, I want to finish up a sewing project I’m working on that involves flat-felled seams! Big reveal Monday? We’ll see.
How can I improve things for a co-worker who recently was re-assigned to work downtown here? Not that she doesn’t love us, but I think her other office was bigger, and the commute was about half as long. I’m thinking a potted plant….
I do not weed when the weather is this… sticky.
My hair has been living large in this humidity. Literally.
I plan on not going to a single high school reunion ever. Why, oh why, would I do that to myself?
My favorite summer fruits are strawberries, cantaloupes, and watermelon. Coincidentally, that is almost the whole list of “fruits I eat.” Apples are missing.
If I hear weird noises in our house at night, I almost never panic and think…what was that? Between the cats and the ice maker in the freezer, there’s plenty of cause for loud noises.
And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to relaxing, tomorrow my plans include getting up early enough to buy eggs at the farmer’s market and then picking up at the end of his half-marathon and Sunday, I want to not have missed out on the sale at JoAnn (last weekend it was Thursday through Saturday, this time it’s Friday through Sunday… it’s very confusing)!
I remember when I first heard that and I would be completing our programs at the same time, and it seemed so far away. And now it seems like it’s just around the corner (even if it is 11 months away, that’s, like nothing in “school” time).
Rain showering down on Minnesota.
Most humans don’t like black licorice. Why is that? It’s delicious!
Working in Access today…sound familiar?
I was inspired by the internet, Flickr, blogs, real life…. It doesn’t take much sometimes.
I’ve had one grey dress sock sitting atop my dresser for several months now, its partner is who knows where! It’s very sad. It’s a cute sock. Alas, I have two feet, and dress socks can’t exactly be mismatched, even under the guise of being kooky or weird or funky.
And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to uh… I have no weekend plans… none at all, tomorrow my plans include … and Sunday, I want to …! Not to be too boring, but really, no plans. Possibilities, sure, many depending on the weather and how much physical energy we’re willing to expend, and right now I’m feeling too lazy to write any of them down, for fear that then I will have to do them. 🙂
