This weekend, we got a storage unit. Saved some money on it because apparently no one wants to drive all the way over to the 6th row of units (since it was near the end, it was $85/month instead of $99). Just in case you’re planning on getting a storage unit sometime soon, could be helpful information to have. You could ask for a crappy location and see what happens.
Then we moved a good chunk of the stuff in the garage and spare bedroom into it. Oh, but first we installed shelves. And then kept taking car loads over while I wrote a (quite poor, but will probably still get an A) paper. Monday night I sorted through my yarn and it all went to storage too, except for what was needed for the 2 in-progress baby blankets I’ve got. I’d show you a picture, but WordPress did a major overhaul and I can’t find my Flickr photo plugin.
We also decided on a set of shelves to create in the closet under the stairs a pantry. This was after we picked out a new mattress (that’s being delivered tomorrow, thank goodness, because we’ve been getting pretty bad sleep for a while now).
is almost done with his 10-day treatment for the eye infection (which may remove his “bedroom eyes” look that is so fond of) – we’re not sure if it worked yet.
The garage is awesomely clean, considering what it used to look like. It still has some work that needs to be done, which will include another trip to the Dakota County Eco-Site this weekend to recycle paint cans, but major progress was made. The spare bedroom, while not getting any cleaner, is certainly getting emptier, and if I get some time, I can work on that. I need to clear it out and clean it up so that I can paint. (Oh, also, we picked out a paint color for the spare bedroom, but that may have been some time last week.)
For those of you not in Minnesota, we enjoyed some cloudy and rainy weather (and a really cold wind) on Saturday, a gorgeous sunny day with mild temps on Sunday, and then were drowned in snow on Monday. Tuesday morning’s commute was slow because of the snow, but some time during the day the sun came out and warmed everything up and it was all cheery by the time I left work. Unbelievable. Don’t even know how to dress for the weather these days.
Played a nice practical joke on my co-worker yesterday that was mildly amusing, totally work-appropriate, and mildly unappreciated by said co-worker. Good thing I found it amusing, or else I wouldn’t do it again. It involved decorating my mid-50s male co-worker’s cubicle with all things flower and butterfly-related, and posting “Happy Birthday” signs up. Other co-workers seem to be unable to get the idea that it’s April 1st and might not be his birthday, which is greatly amusing. He’s still correcting people today about it.
Instead of losing weight, I gained a few pounds. Boo. Today I’m wearing a sundress though (yes, I realize it’s probably 40* degrees outside, and I don’t care – I decided today to pretend it was July), and apparently dresses make one appear slimmer, because it was commented that I am so skinny (and this by a tall skinny redhead who then said she felt fat). My theory is that the dress is a bit big on me and consequently baggy and not skin-tight (so you can’t see the areas where I know the fat has settled), which makes a girl look skinnier. There’s a fine line to walk here, though, because if your clothes are too baggy, they’ll just make you look fat. And if they’re even baggier than that, they’ll make you look quite petite and silly, as though you don’t know how to pick out clothes for yourself.
I don’t think I like the new WordPress design, though I’m sure I’ll get used to it. I didn’t know this many changes were happening, and was unprepared. They moved things around and I’m not yet familiar with the new places to click and so-forth. I spend most of my time in WordPress being generally confused now.
I did say this was going to be a quick update, didn’t I? Oh well. Work is work. It’s busy but only with tedious and annoying tasks I don’t want to do. I’ve had some amusing phone calls this week.
My skin is currently peeling from the bottom of my rib cage down to mid-thigh. It’s an attractive look, I tell ya. Unfortunately, it doesn’t want to seem to fall off completely, but just hang there and make me look like a leper. At least the ugly red “stretch marks” have gone away. I itched most of yesterday, and then realized that I hadn’t taken any Zyrtec for two days, so I took some this morning again. Maybe it was working and I didn’t realize it? 36 days until my dermatologist appointment.
is taking to the airport tomorrow (she’s flying to Florida to visit Grandma who recently celebrated her 80th birthday), and then is waiting at home for the new mattress to be delivered. I’m very excited.
No more progress on the nightstand. Or kitchen cleaning. I kinda fell off the wagon, but am hoping to get back on again soon. Weekends never seem to be very productive for personal projects.
