Apparently I’ve either had a ton of time to surf the web this week, been interested in everything I’ve seen, or have been avoiding work. Take your pick. Here are some of the things I’ve found lately that have caught my eye:
Decorate with Bamboo – After
’s kitchen remodel, I keep running into bamboo everything. And I do mean everything. Last weekend we found disposable plates made of bamboo. They claimed to biodegrade in 4 months or something. All of the below are from Crate and Barrel, who have apparently sold their souls for a bamboo forest.
- Bath Accessories
- Candles
- Lacquer Low Bowl / Tray
- Lacquer Serving Bowl
- Lacquer Dip Bowl
- Tray
- Five Piece Lacquer Server
- Four Piece Lacquer Server
- Bowl / Salad Servers
- Green Salad Servers
Home improvement, decor, etc
- Cabin Fever
- Bathroom Furniture I’m in love with (not that there’s room in most bathrooms for furniture)
- The most brilliant design in kitchen cabinetry since… I don’t know when, via Apartment Therapy.
- The invisible towel shelf from Chiasso. I’m not sure if I love it or if it would end up driving me crazy.
Food, food, and more food! So many recipes, I’ve got to have categories! Many courtesy of TasteSpotting, my newest internet addiction.
- Deserts
- Chocolate Dipped Ice Cream Pops from Make and Takes
- Honey Roasted Peanuts from Apartment Therapy
- Snickery Squares from Canela & Comino, for

- Chocolate Crackle Cookies from Cathie Cooks Food
- Swedish Lace from Culinography. Maybe this recipe will work better than the one I tried Christmas 2006.
- Cocoa Wafer Cookies with Mint Icing from Chocolate Shavings. I bet
would love these. - Green Tea Ice Cream from Cookbook Catchall. If I can’t go to Tanpopo all the time, I should really find a way to get Green Tea Ice Cream from somewhere, preferably my own kitchen.
- Best Banana Pudding Ever from Big City, Little Kitchen. To make
drool. Or do anything I wanted. I should use this power for good, not evil, right? - Nutella Hot Chocolate, also from Big City, Little Kitchen. Unlike the above, this one is just for me.
- Still have a Nutella craving? How about Creme au Nutella and Macaroons from Tartelette? Or Frozen Nutella Coffee from Life on Both Sides of the Pond? (It was World Nutella Day on February 5th and I missed it! How could this have happened?)
- Without Nutella, crepes still have a purpose. This big stack makes me want to gain 50 pounds (by consuming it, that is).
- Naughty Ice Cream Sandwiches from Pinch My Salt. Not necessarily naughty. It depends who you eat them with, and what you do afterwards. I’m sure they could be enjoyed in a purely PG-13 way. You know, if you’re into that.
- Carbs
- Whole Wheat Pita Bread from The Kitchen Sink
- New White Wines from Spain from The New York Times
- Dinners
- Cornish Game Hens from Planet of the Aprilles
- Ways to decorate cookies, if I had the time to practice
- Snowflakes from Bittersweet
- More Snowflakes from Zoe Bakes
- Cookie Pops from Kuidaore (her site should look familiar – I’ve linked to it before)
- Cute Hearts from Cake on the Brain. Who needs to wait for Valentine’s Day to come around again?
Things I’d buy if I were God
- Emoticon Magnets from Shana Logic
- This Retro Napkin Holder from ModCloth for
, because I think he’d like it. If he wouldn’t, I’d give it to RetroGirl, because she definitely would. - This Chemistry Salt and Pepper Shaker Set, also from ModCloth, for
, because she’s a big dork and would love it. - Car Clothes Carrier from Stacks and Stacks. I’m thinking this could be helpful for long car trips, but we don’t take very many of those.
- Rain Chain, also from Stacks and Stacks. Would
hate this, under the premise that it would be like a windchime? I don’t know. But I love it. A few different styles. - The SideSwipe Blade for our KitchenAid mixer. How ingenious of an idea is that?
- Moving Kit from See Jane Work. I’m pretty sure I can be this organized without a kit or book, but it’s kinda nice to have someone get it all ready for you.
- Not quite the Red Swingline Stapler, there’s a Chrome version that’s very swank.
- This product line named after our cat,
, at Crate and Barrel: Bowl and Salad Servers, Tray, - Or this pillow, named after my sister, also at Crate and Barrel: Alison Pillow.
And some very random miscellaney
- Did you know Moses was high? Yeah… this is what happens when people… you know, I don’t even want to get into it. Just file under “bunk” and move on.
- Planning a kitchen garden from The Simple Dollar. Hey, just because it’s generally agreed-upon that it’s way too early and just not probable this year anyways, it doesn’t mean I can’t still be interested in gardening.
- How to get more sex from your wife, from the Strib. You may disagree with the article, but I’m tellin’ ya, it works. Every married woman I know agrees. The unmarried ones probably do too.
- This article on sexual harassment in the military (an understatement, for sure), was quite good, and concerning, from AlterNet.

I’m not sure if I would love the salt and pepper shakers, or if they would drive me crazy. The salt one is golden, chemical equations rock my world. The pepper, however, would bother me because it is not the chemical equation, just a play on math functions. Now if it had the chemical equation for pepper….I’d be ponying up the bucks.
I’m sorry. I misused the word equation. The salt shaker does not have the equation for salt- it’s the formula.
