I’m all over it

Last night, I was madly productive. I got home to a HUGE box on our front step, labeled “AMERICAN LUGGAGE” (or something equally obvious). After dragging it inside quite awkwardly, I opened it (yes, without ) and found the lovely luggage set we registered for, from and her husband. I’ve gotta say, it’s pretty neat. There’s an added element of surprise when you do all your registry online – sometimes things aren’t exactly what you expected. Nonetheless, this set is really cool. Each of the three large pieces has an extra zipper so it expands an additional inch or so, which could come in handy. After thoroughly inspecting them, I re-nested them and found some dinner.

And then I got back to work on my packing and so forth. On the list last night? Laundry, top of the closet, kitty litter, and packing the stuff on the porch. Kitty litter taken care of, I threw some laundry in. I had discovered a suggestion to use baking soda and vinegar, in addition to normal detergent, to remove odors and stains from laundry. I tested this with a load of whites, in which I threw in a few extra white shirts that are particularly… odorous and yellowed. Yech. I have to say that my laundry turned out great, and all of the offending odors and stains were removed, with the exception of one short-sleeved sweater that was pretty much a goner anyways.

Of course, putting the clothes away mean that I had to deal with the chaos that has reigned my dresser ever since we took its partner to ’s house last weekend. That needed to end. So, I sorted through each drawer, and packed up a bunch of stuff to be moved (packed it all in one of the new suitcases), and half a garbage bag full of clothes to go to Goodwill. And now there’s plenty of room.

Then I tackled the top of the closet, which wasn’t that bad except for trying to determine where a few things should go. But basically the top of my closet is storage anyways, so it was ready to go. Just needed to be boxed and labeled. Next I attacked my hanging clothes, and packed up about half (again, in one of the new suitcases) to be moved. My closet is now quite empty. And a little sad. More clothes were given to Goodwill.

By that time, it was 10, which surprised me because it totally could have been midnight for all I knew. I never did get to the porch items, which is OK since that’s a carryover from last week’s list anyways. It’s just a bunch of pots that need to be washed out and thrown into a box so they can go live in ’s garage, or maybe more appropriately just sent to Goodwill, since I tend to kill potted plants.

So now there’s a nice pile of boxes to go to ’s house, another stack for Goodwill, and a third stack to be moved. Oh, I also packed up a bunch of food from my pantry that I realized I can’t eat because the needed kitchen items already moved to ’s house, like muffins and bread mix.

It’s friggin’ hot here today, and I am wearing a little sundress. It’s so hot that I haven’t even put on my sweater at work, even though it’s freezing, because it just feels so darn refreshing. Definitely no nylons today (I pondered that one for about .5 seconds before the weatherman told me it was going to be 96* today, at which point the answer was “h*ll no!”). I’m quite thankful that my weekend home (soon to be my everyday home, in 28 days) is air-conditioned.

Invitations are due Tuesday, and about a third of our invitees have not yet responded. That is annoying. About half are people we expected not to come, but the other half…? I did get four RSVPs in the mail yesterday, though. Wedding stuff I’m mostly on track with as well – left on this week’s list is to schedule my wedding day hair appointment. It is possible this could go poorly, but I’m going to try to be optimistic (though not naive). I should have done this weeks ago.

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve discovered this little “more” tag in Wordpress. Any thoughts on its usage? My posts tend to be wordy and I thought this could help keep the pages shorter, but maybe no one likes having to click a second time to get the whole story. I dunno.

Addendum: I also cleaned out the fridge last night. Ew.
