Further Thoughts on Cookies

I’ve decided I have more thoughts on Christmas cookies. Who’da thunkit? I think that if you’re going to make a variety of different types of cookies, you should have some of each of the following:

  • Cookie cutter holiday shapes, preferably with childlike frosting
  • Gingerbread
  • Something almond
  • Something peppermint
  • This might be the one time where I could care less about chocolate
  • Something involving powdered sugar (not as part of frosting)
  • Something for each person where they can say, “Oh, I used to make these as a kid…” and share the story

I know, not terribly deep. Other options could be:

  • Something spicy (like pumpkin)
  • Bar cookies (a Minnesota specialty, I believe, but they weren’t really that big where I grew up)
  • Something involving Hershey’s kisses
  • Something involving Red Hots

Your thoughts?

  1. I have (or had last year) a recipe for pumpkin bars that you make in a jellyroll pan, then sprinkle with powdered sugar and roll into a yule log-esque contraption, then sprinkle again with powdered sugar. Totally delicious and includes both pumpkin and powdered sugar from your list of ideas.
